The History of Massachusetts General Hospital

Massachusetts General Hospital, chartered in 1811, is the third oldest general hospital in America. From it’s earliest days caring for Boston’s sick and destitute to it’s emergence as a global leader in clinical care and medical research, MGH holds true to it’s mission first expressed by it’s founders: “When in distress, every man becomes our neighbor.”
