LinkedIn Tests New, Larger Video Display In-Stream
With video becoming a key focus on LinkedIn, the platform is now working on a new way to display video posts in the main feed, with larger video panels that’ll be shown between regular posts.
As you can see in this overview from LinkedIn director of product Jake Poses, the new video format will also include rounded corners on the display, which will make video clips stand out even more in-stream.
Though the main element is the height and prominence of the display, especially in the mobile app.
Tap through on any clip and you’ll be taken to LinkedIn’s TikTok-like immersive video feed, which has seen 36% usage growth this year.
Which is no surprise. Video has long been the most engaging content format on all social apps (including LinkedIn), and this TikTok-style format has already proven popular on Facebook, IG, Snapchat, etc.
It’s also especially appealing to younger users, and as more of this audience moves into professional careers, it makes sense that LinkedIn would also be seeing growth in interest in the same.
Though I still question whether the TikTok format is particularly suited to LinkedIn’s content. A lot of the videos that I’ve seen in the app are generic tips and advice from wannabe LinkedIn influencers, and that doesn’t feel like the type of entertaining material that resonates in other apps.
But still, as a format, it aligns with broader trends. And given the noted usage growth, LinkedIn should be trying to capitalize on such where it can.
Considering the platform’s focus, it’s worth assessing your own approach to LinkedIn video in 2025, and whether you might also be able to tap into this element as LinkedIn tries to make it a bigger thing.
In addition to this, LinkedIn also has in-feed video carousels, and other elements, and overall, video is getting a heap of attention in the app.
Worth considering.
LinkedIn says that it’s currently testing this updated video display format with selected users on iOS.
