Sullivan’s Crossing – Falling Through The Cracks – Review : Some Falls Are Harder To Recover From

This was definitely the most dramatic episode of the season so far and I loved it. There is a lot of living in the grey area for pretty much all of the characters this episode.
Cal seemed to hit a bit of a limit with everything going on around him this episode. I think him snapping at Maggie was more about the fact that he couldn’t control anything going on around him and he just wanted some clarity on what was going on. He is so invested with Ben and Tracy that he even goes as far to say that he would never let them go into foster care, essentially admitting that he would care for them himself if he had to.
Everyone who did something they shouldn’t this episode has a valid reason for everything they did which makes it so hard to pick sides.
Ben took Tracy because he didn’t want the two of them to be separated, which resulted in the exact opposite and him being arrested. However you can completely understand where he was coming from but also where the hospital is coming from because he endangered a minor.
The same also applies for Liam and Maggie, they absolutely should not have kissed each other. However Maggie just learned that the supposed love of her life didn’t leave her and was actually kidnapped and tortured. That is bound to bring up unresolved feelings. It makes for a really great watch because you genuinely can’t choose a side to be on.
I am still absolutely rooting for Maggie and Cal to stay together but after this I honestly don’t know if they will stay together. Cal has a very strong moral compass and he certainly isn’t going to take Maggie cheating on him with her husband very lightly, nor should he.
I really liked seeing Cooper help out Cal in this episode. We haven’t seen too much of him or the volunteer fire service since Rafe left so it was nice to see a friendly face helping out. It also reminded me of how much Cooper has developed since he first came in, if that Cooper was asked to help out and keep that secret there is no way he would have done it.
I do wonder if the Ben and Tracy situation will have a knock on effect with some of the characters as technically everyone has been an accessory to child endangerment by not reporting it when they found out about it.
I am really interested to see where we land next episode with Ben in custody, Maggie harbouring her secret and Tracy being away from her brother and possibly more ill because she was taken away from the hospital before she should have been.
