Bronx high school students among injured in Lake George bus crash – NBC New York

Students from a high school in The Bronx were injured Sunday after their bus crashed in Lake George, New York.
Officials say 17 students and six chaperones, from a number of different high schools in The Bronx, were aboard, according to NBC affiliate WNYT. Authorities did not immediately name which schools had students on the bus, or release details about the purpose of the trip.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says the driver and four passengers were taken to local hospitals for minor injuries. “The bus did not stop at the intersection of Diamond Point road and Lake Shore Drive and continued easterly past the intersection going off-road striking several trees, an outbuilding, a boat and a vehicle before coming to final rest,” a statement from the agency said. It did not say how many of the injured passengers are students.
The American Red Cross says it’s helping students who were involved in the crash. The others were taken to the Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Red Cross, food, blankets, and comfort kits are being provided to the students. The Warren County Office of Emergency Services was also helping victims.
The crash remains under investigation, Sheriff’s officials said Sunday afternoon.
