4-year-old boy struck and killed by SUV in Brooklyn; driver fled – NBC New York

A 4-year-old boy was struck and killed in a Brooklyn hit-and-run Thursday morning after he briefly ran from his mother following a doctor’s visit, according to a witness and a law enforcement source.
The child was hit just after 11 a.m. in East Flatbush, officials said. As the boy and his older brother were leaving an urgent care center, the younger child ran off, away from his mother on Rockaway Parkway toward Church Avenue, a witness and a law enforcement source told NBC New York.
An SUV was heading north on Linden Boulevard when it struck the boy. The driver took off immediately after, police said.
The boy was taken to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he died.
Police are looking for a Ford SUV that drove off from the scene. No arrests have yet been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
